Cockney Gangsters Set to Run Amok
at the
Erin Arts Centre!

There will be mayhem  “Daan Saaf” at the end of November when a huge cast of murderers, felons, extortion racketeers, chancers and spivs will appear in  Rushen Players next production, One Man Two Guvnors.

The play, set in 1963, tells the tale of a motley crew of villains, holed up in Brighton on the run from London and the Long Arm of the Law.

This was the era of the Kray Twins; Mad Frankie Fraser; Jack  Spot; the Richardson Brothers; smoky night clubs where Toffs and Establishment mixed with villains, bent policemen, showbiz folk. In the criminal circles, if someone was referred to as a 'Face', it meant that he’d done time, with police mug-shots to prove it!

Richard Bean adapted his play from the 18th Century Goldoni classic,
The Servant of Two Masters
the genre of which is  Commedia dell’ Arte, a forerunner of Pantomime.
